President Michael D Higgins to appear on Ryan Tubridy's final night as host for The Late Late Show
Before Ryan Tubridy hands off the reins to Patrick Kielty, he has one final show this Friday at 9:35 PM with President Michael D Higgins as a guest
Since announcing his departure from television in March, the close to Ryan Tubridy's final season working on The Late Late Show has been rapidly approaching. Now, as a part of the long-time talk show host's final show, President Michael D. Higgins will be one of Tubridy's final guests.
The news came about earlier this week on Tubridy's radio show, the same show where he revealed Patrick Kielty to be The Late Late Show's fourth host.
On air, Ryan Tubridy disclosed that the President's appearance on the show came with an invitation to Áras an Uachtaráin. Like Tubridy, he's been in his office for over a decade - and apparently people were very quick to compare the two of them for it.
"I think some people in his office or even he was saying our 14 years have been pretty much paralleled - obviously his in a much more important, lofty way and me in my own small way in TV Land!"
Tubridy has voiced a lot of support for his successor Patrick Kielty - and not just as the host of The Late Late Show. Kielty will also be taking over The Late Late Toy Show, the annual holiday toy show.
Coming from Dundrum, Co. Down, Kielty has been a prolific media actor, filmmaker, and presenter since he first started his career as the host of The Empire Laughs Back, a Northern Irish comedy club.
When Tubridy announced that Kielty would be the show's next host, it was with the resolute belief that Patrick "has, what they say in the business, the chops."
The Late Late Show will take place this Friday at 9:35PM on RTÉ One.
