Phibsboro For All to screen The Visitor
The screening will take place on March 9 at 6:30 pm.
Phibsboro For All have announced that they will be screening the 2007 film The Visitor on Monday, March 9, at 6:30 pm.
The screening will be taking place at Technological University Dublin, Grangegorman, in room CQ009, in the Central Quad.
The film will be followed by a Q&A with Lucky Khambule, from Movement of Asylum Seekers of Ireland, and a short musical performance on the Djembe drums by Brian Lynch.
Directed by Tom McCarthy, The Visitor is about an American professor who discovers that two immigrants, a Palestinian-Syrian Djembe drummer and a Senegalese jewellery designer, are living in his old apartment in New York.
The immigrants bond with the professor over music and shared values, but are faced with a deportation order.
Phibsboro For All is a group of residents committed to creating a welcoming, supportive environment for everyone who calls that neighbourhood home.
Doors will open at 6:00 pm, and refreshments will be served. Admissions are free, but donations are welcome.
You can reserve a place or donate here.
