Check out the latest Chats in the Flats video below.
Chats In The Flats, is a new online video archive which documents the voices of the working class community in Dublin.
The archive, supported by Donore Credit Union, have just release their fourth episode having already featured comedian Willa White and musician Ciaran Moran. The new video features Brian Brannigan, frontman of the band A Lazarus Soul, singing their single 'Black and Amber' from the balcony of a block of flats in the Liberties.
The project, the brainchild of Richie Power features contributions from Anita Reilly, known for participation in the Virgin Media show Googlebox. The archive explores the subculture of the flats, including childhood recollections of life in the Liberties area, as well as the significant shifts brought about by urban regeneration and escalating housing costs.
“I was born and bred in the liberties of Dublin," says Power. "I’ve travelled a lot over the years and always found people from all walks of life particularly interested in stories I had to tell of people from working class Dublin. I decided to start chats in the flats to give those voices a platform and showcase the brilliance that comes from these areas, through song, story and spoken word.”
