Meryl Streep, Sienna Miller & Kit Harington to tackle global warming in new series Extrapolations
The star-studded cast will tackle many different aspects of the oncoming climate crisis in the Apple TV+ show.
Apple TV+ has announced a new anthology series Extrapolations focusing on global warming, starring Meryl Streep, Sienna Miller, and Kit Harington.
Contagion writer Scott Z Burns is set to write and direct the show. It's not the first time the writer tackles the topic of climate breakdown - he produced the seminal 2006 documentary An Inconvenient Truth.
“The only thing we know for sure about the future is that we are all going there together — and we’re taking with us our hopes, our fears, our appetites, our creativity, our capacity for love and our predilection to cause pain,” Burns said in a statement. “These are the same tools that storytellers have been using since the beginning of time. Our show is just using them to keep time from running out.”
Over its eight-episode run, Extrapolations aims to tell stories of how the climate crisis will affect our personal lives as well as larger global impact. The anthology series will consist of a series of interconnected stories which will capture the effects of the crisis from a number of different perspectives.
Sienna Miller is set to play Rebecca Sheare, a marine biologist, while Harrington will be taking on the role of an industrial magnate. Meryl Streep's role on the show is yet to be revealed.
A number of other actors will be joining the trio, including Tahar Rahim, Matthew Rhys, Daveed Diggs, Gemma Chan, David Schwimmer, and Adarsh Gourav.
Extrapolations is currently still in production and a release date has yet to be announced.
