Leo Woodall to join Renée Zellweger and Hugh Grant for Bridget Jones 4
The fourth installment in the adventures of Bridget Jones, Mad About the Boy is slated to hit big screens on Valentines Day 2025.
Over two decades after the release of the iconic rom-com Bridget Jones's Diary, the scatterbrained heroine is set to return to screens for a fourth big screen outing.
Adapted from Helen Fielding’s 2013 novel Mad About the Boy, the latest installment in the beloved series will see the return of Renée Zellweger’s Bridget Jones alongside Hugh Grant’s disgracefully charming Daniel Cleaver.
Set four years after 2016’s Bridget Jones’s Baby, which saw Jones navigate an unexpected pregnancy, the new film will also feature Emma Thompson alongside newcomers Chiwetel Ejofor and Leo Woodall, who has recently been making waves as the charismatic co-star of One Day.
Following the sudden death of veteran on-off lover Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), the new film will reportedly follow Jones as she re-enters the world of dating, beginning with Woodall as a 30-year-old dreamboat.
Written by Fielding, the upcoming film is set to be directed by Michael Morris, the first man to sit at the helm of a Bridget Jones feature. Filming will begin in London this summer ahead of the project’s Valentine’s Day release next February.
After garnering $760m at the box office for its previous trio of films, the Bridget Jones franchise continues to flourish, with its fourth installment produced by Working Title and released via Universal.
