Kill Bill and Reservoir Dogs actor Michael Madsen has died aged 67
The cause of death was a suspected cardiac arrest according to his manager Ron Smith.
Hollywood actor Michael Madsen has died aged 67.
He was found unresponsive in his Malibu home following a home call to the emergency services on Thursday morning, according to authorities and personal representatives.
Madsen was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:25 am local time. No foul play was suspected.
Managers Susan Ferris and Ron Smith and publicist Liz Rodriguez commended the film star in a statement.
"Michael Madsen was one of Hollywood's most iconic actors, who will be missed by many," they said. "In the last two years, Michael Madsen has been doing some incredible work with independent film, including upcoming feature films Resurrection Road, Concessions and Cookbook for Southern Housewives, and was really looking forward to this next chapter in his life."
The Chicago-born film star was known for his long-term collaboration with director Quentin Tarantino.
His credits in Tarantino projects include Reservoir Dogs, the Kill Bill series, The Hateful Eight and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Madsen commonly portrayed dark and intense characters throughout his career, thanks to his gravelly voice and brooding charisma on screen.
His global debut came from starring in Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs as the brooding, bloodthirsty criminal Mr Blonde.
In a 2007 Hot Press interview, Madsen described how Tarantino was the director he always wanted to hear a job call from.
“Tarantino just arrived like a bolt," he said, "I was just lucky to be in the right place at the right time. I’d love to do more stuff with him. I really hope Inglorious Bastards or one of those projects he’s been telling me about get off the ground. But you can be sure that Quentin will take his time. It’s his world, we’re all just living in.”
The film star began his career as an apprentice to Oscar-nominated actor John Malkovich at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company.
He made his cinema debut in the 1983 sci-fi thriller WarGames.
The Hollywood actor went on to star in acclaimed films from the 1980s onwards, including Donnie Brasco, Thelma and Louise and Free Willy.
