Irish Star Alison Oliver lands on Variety's '10 actors to watch' list
The Cork-born actress is rubbing shoulders with some industry elites on the Variety list.
Alison Oliver, the Rising Cork star, has been included on US entertainment publication Variety's latest ten actors to watch list.
Due to make her big screen debut opposite Oscar nominated Barry Keoghan in Saltburn for director Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman), this November, the 'Conversations with Friends' star recently appeared opposite fellow Irish actors Sharon Horgan and Niamh Moriarty, plus Welsh actor Michael Sheen in 'Best Interests', the acclaimed BBC series.
Speaking about the actress as the publication includes her on their famous list, Variety said: "After appearing in the limited series 'Conversations with Friends', Oliver is making her film debut in Oscar winner Emerald Fennell's Saltburn. She will also appear in The Order opposite Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult."
The upcoming movie Saltburn is about "a student at Oxford University finds himself drawn into the world of a charming and aristocratic classmate, who invites him to his eccentric family's sprawling estate for a summer never to be forgotten."
Justin Kurzel (Macbeth) directs the true-crime thriller The Order, with the synopsis reading: "In 1983, a series of increasingly violent bank robberies, counterfeiting operations and armoured car heists frightened communities throughout the Pacific Northwest. As baffled law enforcement agents scrambled for answers, a lone FBI agent (Law), stationed in the sleepy, picturesque town of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, came to believe the crimes were not the work of traditional, financially motivated criminals but a group of dangerous domestic terrorists, inspired by a radical, charismatic leader (Hoult), plotting a devastating war against the federal government of the United States."
A release date for The Order is yet to be announced.
Joining the Irish actress on the Variety list are: Nicholas Galitzine (Red, White & Royal Blue), Myha'la Herrold (Industry), Archie Madekwe (Gran Turismo), Charles Melton (Poker Face), Cara Jade Myers (Killers of the Flower Moon), Aaron Pierre (the Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal-starring Foe), Dominic Sessa (The Holdovers), Teyana Taylor (A Thousand and One), and Ji-young Yoo (Smoking Tigers).
