Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein to star Andrew Garfield, Oscar Isaac, and Mia Goth
With Guillermo del Toro‘s Cabinet of Curiosities, a horror series has been created that features "a collection of the Oscar-winning filmmaker‘s personally curated stories," Del Toro said.
Guillermo del Toro, the director of horror films such as Nightmare Alley, Pan's Labyrinth, and Hellboy, is currently looking for a cast for his upcoming film, Frankenstein. The award-winning director recently won an Oscar for his dark take on Pinocchio.
Since Del Toro is a big fan of adaptations and new interpretations of classic stories, it is unclear whether Frankenstein will follow the story of Mary Shelly‘s 1818 novel or take a much darker turn. However, according to a Variety report, actors Andrew Garfield, Oscar Isaac, and Mia Goth are in early talks to star in Netflix‘s live-action Frankenstein.
The film is currently in an early stage of conversation. It‘s part of the filmmaker‘s multi-year deal with Netflix, where Del Toro has a number of projects in development. Others like his Cabinet of Curiosities have already been released and are highly acclaimed.

After winning two Oscars in 2017 for his film The Shape of Water (Best Director and Best Picture), Del Toro won his third Academy Award for Pinocchio last Sunday, March 12th.
In 2007, he was nominated for Best Screenplay and Best Foreign Language Film for Pan's Labyrinth, and in 2022, he was nominated for Best Picture for Nightmare Alley.
The Amazing Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield recently starred in the miniseries Under the Banner of Heaven, had a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and played in the biographical musical film Tick, Tick... Boom!. For his role in Tick, Tick... Boom! the actor received several awards, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor.
American actor Oscar Isaac is best known for his versatility and has been credited with breaking stereotypes about Latino characters in Hollywood. He recently starred in films like Dune and Big Gold Brick while also portraying the main character in Marvel‘s Moon Knight.
Mia Goth achieved her breakthrough by starring in the X slasher series by Ti West. The trilogy includes X, Pearl, and the upcoming MaXXXine. She further gained recognition for her performances in films such as the horror films High Life (2018) and Suspiria (2018) as well as the romantic comedy film Emma (2020).
Further information about Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein adaptation remains to be seen. So far, it is also unclear which roles the actors could play and who else could join the cast.
