Frank Ocean in talks to direct first feature film with A24
He has worked closely with A24 previously. His music featured heavily in the film Waves.
Distributors A24 and 2AM are in talks to fulfill Frank Ocean's wish of writing and directing his own feature film.
Named one of the most beloved musical artists of our time, with two Grammy wins and the Brit Award for Best International Male Solo Artist under his belt, the singer has taken a keen interest in film.
His interests grew after he wrote and directed Endless in 2016, a visual album released as a streaming exclusive on Apple music.
His two studio releases, Channel Orange and Blond, are both currently listed in Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Working closely with 2AM and A24, both production companies are highly acclaimed.
Although 2AM is a relatively new studio, A24's highly anticipated Bodies, Bodies, Bodies is due for release in August, starring Amandla Stenberg, Maria Bakalova, Rachel Sennott, Chase Sui Wonders, Pete Davidson, and more.
Named by TIME as one of the 100 most influential people in the world back in 2013, he also has a strong history with A24.
His music was heavily featured throughout Trey Edward Shults' Waves- the emotional journey of a suburban African American family as they navigate love, forgiveness, and coming together in the wake of a tragic loss.
Sources say that the hope is to begin filming sometime this Fall and have production wrapped before the New Year arrives, with New Mexico being a potential location for the feature film.
