First look at Martin Scorsese’s What Happens at Night, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence

Principal photography has commenced in the Czech Republic for Apple Original Films' feature, What Happens at Night. The film reunites stars and producers Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, who previously worked together on Don't Look Up.

The feature is directed and produced by Martin Scorsese and adapted from the mystery-thriller novel by Peter Cameron. It tells the story of a married American couple, played by DiCaprio and Lawrence, who travel to a small, snowy European town with the intention of adopting a baby.

Apple Original Films announced that filming is underway, with support from the Czech Film Commission. The cast also includes notable actors Patricia Clarkson, Mads Mikkelsen, Jared Harris, and Welker White.

DiCaprio, Lawrence, and Daniel Lupi are serving as producers alongside Scorsese. What Happens at Night marks the latest collaboration for Scorsese, DiCaprio, and Apple Original Films, following their work on 2023’s Killers of the Flower Moon which received 10 nominations at Academy Awards. This film marks the seventh collaboration between  Scorsese and DiCaprio which includes Wolf of Wall Street, Shutter Island and The Departed.
