Ferris Bueller's Day Off spin-off in the works from Cobra Kai creators
The project, titled Sam and Victor's Day Off, is yet to announce a cast or release date.
Word of an exciting Ferris Bueller's Day Off spin-off for Paramount Pictures has spread.
It will reportedly be made by the creators of the Karate Kid spin-off Cobra Kai: Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald, and with Bill Posley as screenwriter.
The project is called Sam and Victor's Day Off, and will "follow the same-day adventure of the titular valets who took the Ferarri on a joy ride in the Matthew Broderick starrer," according to Deadline. These characters were given no names or backstory in the original. They were originally played by Richard Edson of Sonic Youth and the late Larry "Flash" Jenkins. The cast for the spin-off has yet to be released.
The original film has been a cult classic since its release in 1986. Its style left an influence on countless forms of media to this day. Similarly to how Cobra Kai reinvented 1984's Karate Kid, this new spin-off will hopefully bring the iconic film to a new audience.
The trio of creators are set up for a busy future. They are also currently working on a Netflix series called Obliterated: an action comedy, and a film adaptation of History Channel's Ancient Aliens.
Also involved with Sam and Victor's Day Off is Paul Young of Key & Peele and Black-ish through his production company Make Good Content.
