Directors of An Irish Goodbye to collaborate on debut feature film starring Jack O'Connell and Odessa A'zion

Tom Berkeley and Ross White, the team behind Oscar-winning short film An Irish Goodbye, have announced their first feature film, The End of the World as We Know It.

According to Variety, it will star BAFTA-winner Jack O'Connell as well as Odessa A'zion, who had her breakout role in Marty Supreme. The two play flat-Earthers who cross paths on a journey to prove their conspiratorial beliefs. Shooting begins next month in Canada.

White and Berkeley's previous collaboration, dark comedy An Irish Goodbye, follows two brothers reuniting after their mother's death in rural Northern Ireland. (Ross White is from Belfast, while Tom Berkeley is from Gloucester.) It played at over 60 international film festivals, winning an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film in 2023, plus the BAFTA award for Best British Short Film and the IFTA Award for the best short film.

“The End of the World as We Know It is a story we discovered hiding in the strangest of places, but one that seemed to speak profoundly to our collective search for meaning, belonging and love in an increasingly disparate world,” said Berkeley and White.

“We feel intensely lucky to have the inimitable Jack O’Connell and Odessa A’zion bringing these star-crossed loners to life and, with the backing of the wonderful teams at Studiocanal, Working Title, Parkville and Film4, we can’t wait to take audiences on their unique, cinematic journey.”

The movie is being produced by Working Title Films and Parkville Pictures. It is financed by Studiocanal and co-financed and executive produced by Film4.
