David Lynch posthumously honoured with Writers Guild Laurel Award for Screenwriting Achievement
The director had agreed to accept the award in 2024 prior to his death.
The late filmmaker David Lynch will be honoured with the 2025 Writers Guild of America West Laurel Award for Screenwriting Achievement.
Lynch passed away earlier this month aged 78 from complications of emphysema.
The Twin Peaks director whose films included Blue Velvet, Eraserhead, and Mulholland Drive, had agreed to accept the award prior to his death.
The award is given to members of the guild who have "advanced the literature of motion pictures and made outstanding contributions to the profession of the screenwriter”.
President of the WGAW, Meredith Stiehm, said of Lynch: "Writer-director David Lynch's uncompromising vision pushed the boundaries of filmmaking, we're proud to honour him and his legacy”.
The awards ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on February 15, and will be presented by Kyle MacLachlan, who starred in Lynch’s Dune, Twin Peaks, and Blue Velvet.
Oliver Stone, Charlie Kaufman, Eric Roth, and Nancy Meyers are past recipients of the award.
