CBS All Access announces 'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' Series
The show will follow Captain Pike, Spock and Number One
After high demand from fans of the Star Trek: Discovery series, CBS All Access has announced that they have commissioned a spinoff called Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Anson Mount, Ethan Peck and Rebecca Romijn will be returning as Captain Pike, Spock and Number One.
There has been no word as to when the series will premiere, but it will follow the characters in the decade before Captain Kirk first boards the Enterprise.
"Fans fell in love with Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn and Ethan Peck’s portrayals of these iconic characters when they were first introduced on Star Trek Discovery last season,” said EVP & CBS All Access Head of Programming Julie McNamara. “This new series will be a perfect complement to the franchise, bringing a whole new perspective and series of adventures to Star Trek.”
The series will be scripted by Picard executive producer Akiva Goldsman, based on a story from Alex Kurtzman and executive producer Jenny Lumet.
“This is a dream come true, literally,” addsed Goldsman in a press release. “I have imagined myself on the bridge of the Enterprise since the early 1970s. I’m honoured to be a part of this continuing journey along with Alex, Henry and the fine folks at CBS.”
