British comedian Richard Ayoade involved in car crash in London

Comedian Richard Ayoade has been involved in a car crash in south-east London.

The crash took place on Saturday, June 13, when a Renault hit two pedestrians before crashing into a Mercedes that he was driving.

Witnesses reported Ayoade standing outside his damaged vehicle holding his neck while talking to officers who had arrived after the collision.

"Everyone froze at the sound of twisted metal," said one witness.

"It was obviously a bad crash. One of the pedestrians who was hit could then be heard screaming."

Paramedics treated two women at the scene before transporting them to a major trauma centre for further care. The Metropolitan Police have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The incident comes during a busy period for Ayoade. It was recently announced that he will be joining the line-up for Season 22 of the British game show Taskmaster alongside Matt Lucas, Chloe Petts, Isy Suttie and Nina Conti.

He has also joined the cast of Only Murders in the Building for its sixth season. The murder-mystery drama features Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez - along with new additions Doctor Who alumni David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker.
