The Berlin Film Festival will take place from February 16th-26th 2023, with The Greyhound of a Girl chosen as a premiere.
Originally written as a novel by Roddy Doyle, new animated film A Greyhound Of A Girl has now been selected to premiere at the Berlin Film Festival.
A Greyhound Of A Girl features the voices of stellar Irish talents, Oscar-nominee Brendan Gleeson, Sharon Horgan (Bad Sisters, Catastrophe), renowned theatre and film actor Rosaleen Linehan, Charlene McKenna (Peaky Blinders, Bloodlands, Death and Nightingales) and the young voice of Mia O’Connor.
11-year-old Dublin schoolgirl Mary O'Hara as and her dying Grandmother embark on a journey into their family history together in the forthcoming flick. Accompanying them on their journey are two other women from their family line, including Mary's mother Tansey.
The film, supported by Screen Ireland, will be part of the BERLINALE Generation Kplus 2023 competition at the festival. JAM Media, the Irish and UK multi-award winning animated and live-action company, has brought the story to life on screen, with direction from Enzo d’Alò and screenplay by Dave Ingham and d’Alò.

They've also produced The Voyage, a music video for Christy Moore's song of the same name, for Comic Relief 2020.
It's been quite the accolade-filled year already. Ireland has already seen a record-breaking 14 Oscar nominations this awards season. An Cailín Ciúin has been the first Irish language feature film to be nominated for an Academy Award.
"We are honoured to have the world premiere of A Greyhound Of A Girl at the distinguished Berlin Film Festival," said executive produce for JAM Media John Rice. "We're delighted about this great news and would like to thank our wonderful team and partners."
