Bill Murray heads to Ireland in new BBC Series
Off Course will explore "some of the Emerald Isle's most iconic courses in a love letter to both the game and the place that shaped the Murray clan".
Bill Murray is set to present a new six-part series of the BBC which will see the Irish-American actor explore Ireland’s “most iconic courses in a love letter to both the game and the place that shaped the Murray clan.”
Tilted Off Course, the series, commissioned for BBC Two, BBC One Northern Ireland, and BBC iPlayer, will include Murray and the extended Murray family, celebrity friends, and long-time golfing companion Tom Coyne.
It is said to be inspired by Tom Coyne’s New York Time Bestseller A Course Called Ireland, and is described by the BBC as “no ordinary golf show – it's about life, chance encounters, and the joy of going gloriously off course."
Speaking of the new show, Murray commented: "I started out caddying, and golf was the best education I ever received. Ireland feels like the right place to put all that to work.
"They've got this wonderful word there, 'craic', which means fun, but it means a lot of other things. A lot of good things. And this show will be about us finding it."
Catherine Catton, BBC Head of Factual Entertainment Commissioning and Events, said: "This is a series full of humour, heart, and adventure, set against some of the most beautiful backdrops imaginable – and we can't wait for audiences to come along for the ride with Bill."
A release date for Off Course is yet to be announced.
