Ardal O’Hanlon, Amy Huberman, Risteard Cooper, Toni O’Rourke and Deirdre O’Kane to join the cast of Fran The Man
The production of the feature mockumentary is already underway in Dublin.
Five new cast members have just been announced for the Dublin-produced mockumentary Fran The Man, namely Ardal O’Hanlon, Amy Huberman, Risteard Cooper, Toni O’Rourke and Deirdre O’Kane. The film, written by Richie Conroy (Two By Two, Malory Towers) and produced by Collie McCarthy’s Forty Foot Pictures (I Used to Be Famous), follows Fran Costello’s mockumentary series Fran.
The film tells the story of St Peter’s Celtic and their tough upcoming clash with titans Shamrock Rovers in the first round of the FAI Cup. Fran Costello, assistant manager, carries the hope that his team will pull off one of the greatest shocks in football history, but things quickly take a turn for the worse.
Fran The Man’s Director, Stephen Bradley, is known to have directed three feature films and numerous documentaries, TV series and stand-up comedy shows. “I’m very happy to be shooting Fran The Man with Richie Conroy’s very funny and clever script, under the banner of Collie McCarthy’s Forty Foot Pictures. We have assembled an inspiring cast and crew and their energy will be up on screen in the form of loads of laughs and a whole lot of heart," he said.
Conroy is already well known for his award-winning comedy and drama writing, such as the animation franchise Two by Two and BBC’s adaptation of Enid Blyton books, Malory Towers. He also wrote the original series of Fran, assistant manager.
