Troubles Documentary The Ballymurphy Precedent To Screen in Cinemas
Just a few weeks after reporting that documentary A Mother Brings Her Son to be Shot is getting an Irish cinema release, another Troubles related non-fiction film will play on the big screen.
The Ballymurphy Precedent will screen across all Omniplex Cinemas in Ireland August 30. The showing will be followed with a satellite Q&A between director Callum MaCrae and Channel 4's Jon Snow.
The doc focuses on The Ballymurphy Massacre, a series of incidents resulting in the killing of eleven civilians by the 1st Battalion, Parachute Regiment of the British Army in Ballymurphy, Belfast, between August 9-11, 1971.
The film examines the incident and how the same battalion were responsible for the Bloody Sunday killings in Derry a year later.
