Tom Hardy to produce and star in Bosnian War Drama

Tom Hardy seems to be on a bit of war fix at the moment. After appearing as an RAF fighter pilot in Christopher Nolan's unbearably tense WW2 epic Dunkirk, it seems he already eyeing another bloody conflict on European soil to make a film around.

According to Variety, Hardy will be producing and starring in an adaptation of Bosnian war memoir My War Gone By, I Miss It So. Written by Anthony Lloyd, the personal account is a chilling document of the depravity of war as well the author's own internal conflicts as an adrenaline Junkie. Lloyd was journalist and war photographer famous for his utter disregard for his own well being when heading into dangerous situations.

‘My War Gone By’ is a brutal yet sensitive story which addresses both the nature of addiction and the experience of war,” Hardy told Variety. “I was struck by Anthony’s work and words, experiences, and for me his is an important voice and an important book.”

Gavin O'Connor, who has worked with Hardy previously on the MMA drama Warrior, will be sitting in the director's chair. "It’s a book written with both fists. It’s Anthony’s Apocalypse Now" he said of the source material. "I feel privileged and honored for the opportunity to bring the book to the movies.”

As for Hardy, he's next movie role of note will be as the titular comic book character in Venom, a film that's not slated for release until some time in 2018.
