The documentary was initially announced in 2017.
Apple TV has announced that it has acquired the rights to The Velvet Underground, Todd Haynes' documentary on the legendary rock band.
The Velvet Underground is being produced by Polygram Entertainment, Motto Pictures, and Killer Films, in association with Federal Films. Producers on the documentary include Christine Vachon, Julie Goldman, Christopher Clements, Carolyn Hepburn, and David Blackman. A premiere date has yet to be announced, but the documentary was directed and co-produced by Haynes.
