The Beatles are opening a museum on the site of their last gig
The Beatles at 3 Savile Row will be open to the public in 2027.
An exhibition space is opening at 3 Savile Row, where The Beatles' played their last ever gig. Fans will be able to experience seven floors of memorabilia, never-seen-before archives, and a recreated recording studio.
The building in London served as the band's headquarters between 1968 and 1972. It was there they recorded their final album, Let It Be, in the basement.
It was also the location of The Beatles' rooftop concert on January 30 1969, which was the last time the band performed for the public. They played a 42 minute set featuring hits such as, 'Don't Let Me Down', 'I've Got A Feeling', and two versions of 'Get Back', before local complaints forced them to pull the plug.
Since its inception in 1968, Apple Corps Ltd. has overseen The Beatles' creative and business interests.
"We're thrilled to bring Apple Corps back to its spiritual home and give The Beatles fans something truly special", said Apple Corps' CEO Tom Greene. "Every single day, fans are taking pictures outside of 3 Savile Row, but next year they can go in and explore all seven floors of the iconic building, including the rooftop where even the railings remain the same from that famous day in 1969".
The museum is the latest addition to a number of Beatles landmarks. Across Liverpool, popular sites in the city including Paul McCartney's and George Harrison birthplaces, have become extremely popular. Just last week a code of conduct was introduced for tour guides and visitors, suggesting visiting hours, and ensuring tourists keep noise and disruption to a minimum.
"It was such a trip to get back to 3 Savile Row recently and have a look around. There are so many special memories within the walls, not to mention the rooftop", stated Paul McCartney. "The team have put together some some really impressive plans and I'm excited for people to see it when it's ready".
