Tech Review: ICD- TX650 Voice Recorder
Sony
Gadgets don’t come slicker than this cigarette-sized voice recorder. The device can be clipped onto a shirt for hands-free recording at college lectures or business meetings. Sporting 16GB of space, it records MP3 content through two stereo microphones. There’s a one-push recording button, which leaps to life when the recorder is switched off. You can also use a delay timer to preset recordings in true espionage style.
The TX650 has plenty of options built into its OLED display. Search content by date, add track marks, or change the speed of recording to decipher any unintelligible banter. The recording quality is decent, even in noisy environments, although you won’t be entertaining parties with the built in-speaker. Use the headphone jack instead.
The TX650’s handy size has its downsides. The rechargeable battery chugs along for a paltry 60 minutes – and there is no external microphone socket for higher quality recording.
6/10
