Star Trek child actor dies, aged 33
Jon Paul Steuer, who acted in Star Trek: Next Generation, has passed away at the age of 33.
As a child star, Steuer soared to fame playing Alexander Rozhenko in the eighties reboot of the Star Trek franchise. He passed away on New Year's Day.
After years of acting as a child star, Jon went on to forge a career as a musician and restaurateur. Despite having left the spotlight, tributes still poured in from loyal Star Trek fans who remember the star from the show.
Steuer's band P.R.O.B.L.E.M.S. also released a statement on Facebook confirming the sad news on Wednesday (January 3).
"The addition of Jonny to our dysfunctional band family was one of the best choices that we have ever made, and he brought a much needed sense of fun and lightheartedness to everything we did.
"He was only with us for a little more than a year, but we managed to cram a lifetime of great experiences into his tenure as our singer: dozens shows at home in Portland and across several states, an amazing European tour, and our best full-length release yet.
We've lost our singer, but far, far more than that we've lost a friend.
Rest in peace, Jonny...we love you."
Jon Paul Steuer won fans with the first portrayal of Klingon Alexander Rozhenko – Worf and Ambassador K'Ehleyr's son – in The Next Generation.
