Quentin Tarantino starts work on new film about the Manson murders
All we know so far about the potential new project.
Tarantino is supposedly finishing up the script for a new film based off the 1969 murder of Sharon Tate and subsequent imprisonment of Charles Manson and several of his followers.
The brutal murders took place on August 8, 1969 after the notorious cult leader Charles Manson had his followers attack a Los Angeles home where he believed a record producer who had once shunned him was living.
Although exact details about the project remain unknown, sources say that Tarantino is in talks with several celebrities to play a role in the film, such as Jennifer Lawrence, Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt.
Although he’s got genres galore in his wheelhouse, Tarantino has never directed a movie based on real events. Should the film receive financing and distribution smoothly, the unnamed project will start filming in the summer of 2018.
More details are likely to come out after the package is received this Labor Day (September 4). In the meantime, read Peter Murphy's article on Manson's effect on Los Angeles and Rock n' roll and the controversy over Manson's recordings.
