Poster for Michael Flatley’s Directorial Debut Emerges
Blackbird sees the Irish celebrity swap dance reel for film reel
Lord of the Dance Michael Flatley took to Twitter to unveil the poster for his first film Blackbird. A spy thriller, the dancer will direct, write and star in the upcoming movie.
Joining him in the cast is fellow Irishman Patrick Bergin (Patriot Games), as well as Julia Roberts’ brother Eric.
IMDB’s plot synopsis reads: “Troubled secret agent "Blackbird" (Flatley) abruptly retires from service and opens a luxurious nightclub in the Caribbean to escape the dark shadows of his past. An old flame arrives and reignites love in his life but she brings danger with her.”
The poster below features a suave suited Flatley, as well as a smaller more dishevelled version of his character firing a gun.
I’ve dreamt of making a movie since I was 7 years old. Nothing great is ever easy but Nothing is Impossible!! Job Done!!! pic.twitter.com/aJmYnrBSq2

Reaction to the poster online has been mixed. While fans of Flatley congratulated him on the movie, some have been taken aback by the abrupt career change.
You performed for Trump so no-one gives a fuck about your home movie about your mid-life crisis. Although to be fair, this looks like a hilarious load of shite. https://t.co/9K4NebIOYK

Blackbird co-star Roberts commented below the poster announcement that he ‘loved every minute’ shooting the movie.
