Haunted Dancehall will take place at the NCH on October 1st and 2nd.
Haunted Dancehall is a brand new festival that will take place in the National Concert Hall in Dublin on October 1st and 2nd. This festival has an exciting lineup of over 40 Irish and international artists from the worlds of electronic, contemporary classical, ambient, hauntology, noise and experimental music. Spread over 5 rooms in the NCH, it will run from 7:30pm to late both nights.
A host of exciting acts include Caterina Barbieri, who will make her Irish debut on the 1st at 8pm, presenting her new live show The Spirit Exit: 'a journey through inner space as vast as a universe and as intimate as a heartbeat'. Mercury Prize-nominated Brooklyn-based producer Oneohtrix Point Never will perform at 8pm on the 2nd. Roger Doyle, otherwise known as 'The Godfather of Irish Electronica', will grace the NCH stage on the 2nd at 9:30 with his groundbreaking electronic music. At 10pm on the 2nd will be Fears, Irish artist known for her unique combinations of electronics, acoustic samples, and haunting vocals.
The festival is a project supporting the Night-Time Economy Taskforce to see the National Cultural Institutions collaborate with more diverse partners and highlight new artists, both Irish and international.
It also sees support by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, with the Minister Catherine Martin T.D. stating, "Using our iconic spaces in new ways is key to encouraging diversity in the Night-Time Economy... The team at the National Concert Hall is really pushing boundaries with this exciting new festival – opening later, using this famous landmark building in new ways and programming and curating in different ways, focussing on the most exciting new music-making both from Ireland and internationally."
