LISTEN: Megan Burke drops debut single 'Where Did You Find Love'
Megan plays the Hot Press Lockdown Sessions' Y&E Series this Sunday.
Without releasing any music, newcomer Megan Burke has made big waves online. Her debut single, 'Where Did You Find Love' dropped today, and it's safe to say the young singer-songwriter is living up to the hype.
"We were trying to recreate that old American big band soul sound," Burke says of the bluesy track. "We wanted it to sound like it could have been an Aretha Franklin or Nina Simone song back in the day.
“It’s about the overwhelming loneliness you feel after a relationship breakdown, and the constant second guessing yourself and the decisions you’ve made, the thoughts that play in your mind about them falling in love with someone else and questioning who they are.”
The song’s organic arrangement is a breath of fresh air, with old-school soul elements that allow Megan’s huge voice to take centre stage. Keep an eye out for Megan on the Hot Press Lockdown Sessions' Y&E Series this Sunday.
