Leonardo DiCaprio confirmed to star in next Quentin Tarantino film

With Sony picking up the production and distribution reigns after Tarantino cut ties with now-infamous Weinstein Company a few months ago, the writer/director is aiming to have his ninth film out in August 2019, with cameras rolling from this year.

The film, which has yet to be given a title, will be set against the backdrop of the Manson Murders in 1969 and will follow an aging actor (DiCaprio). While Tarantino insists that the Manson angle won't be the focus, he has confirmed that he's been in talks to Margot Robbie about playing Sharon Tate, and that both Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt have name-dropped as potentially appearing.

For DiCaprio, this will be the actor’s first lead role since his Oscar-winning performance in The Revenant, and his second working with Tarantino, having previously played the chief antagonist Calvin Candie in 2012's Django Unchained.
