John Bowman, Fr. Brian D’Arcy and Scott Williams inducted into IMRO Radio Awards Hall of Fame
The three broadcasters are honoured for their contributions to Irish radio at this year’s IMRO Radio Awards Hall of Fame.
Broadcasters John Bowman, Fr. Brian D’Arcy and Scott Williams have been inducted into the IMRO Radio Awards Hall of Fame for 2025.
The ceremony occurred today at the IMRO offices ahead of the annual IMRO Radio Awards Gala.
This year’s inductees have contributed to Irish radio for decades across public service broadcasting and independent radio.
John Bowman joined RTÉ in 1962 and has worked across journalism, political coverage, and documentary-making. He has presented Bowman: Sunday 8.30 on RTÉ Radio 1 for 36 years.
Fr. Brian D’Arcy has worked across Irish and Northern Irish radio since the 1970s, most recently hosting Sunday with Brian D’Arcy on BBC Radio Ulster. He is also a long-time columnist and author.
Scott Williams has held various roles in Ireland’s independent radio sector; he was the first voice on Capital Radio, now FM104, and in 1989 and later served as Programme Director and CEO at Wireless Ireland. He also led the development of the Irish Radioplayer app.
IMRO Radio Awards Chair Chris Doyle said the Hall of Fame recognises “enduring excellence, passion, and dedication,” adding that each inductee has “inspired generations of listeners and professionals alike.”
