ITV adaptation of Graham Norton's debut novel Holding to film in Cork this summer

ITV has commissioned a four-part series of Graham Norton's debut novel Holding, which is slated to be filmed on location in Cork.

Games of Thrones actor Conleth Hill will portray the leading role of local police officer Sergeant PJ Collins in the murder-mystery series.

When the body of long-lost local legend Tommy Burke is discovered, PJ is called to solve a serious crime for the first time in his career. The police officer finally has to connect with the village he has tried hard to avoid.

Norton's award-winning novel was the best-selling project by an Irish writer on its publication in 2016 and again in 2017.

Holding will be directed by veteran actor, director and comedian Kathy Burke and adapted by Dominic Treadwell-Collins and Karen Cogan.

Production will take place in West-Cork, where Norton grew up, produced by Happy Prince, part of ITV Studios, and Martina Niland for Port Pictures, in association with Screen Ireland.

Speaking about the adaptation, Norton said he is "beyond excited to see the story and characters I created being brought to the screen".

"I love how the brilliant creative team have transformed my novel into something so rich and dramatic. West Cork is ready for its close-up!!".

Holding is set to be filmed this summer with details of further casting released closer to the commencement of production.
