Top Gun sequel finally gets a release date
Cruise sequel on track for Summer 2019 release
Paramount Studios first started work on the sequel to Top Gun in 2010, but after a number of setbacks, only now just announced the target date for the follow-up to the iconic American film. 33 years after the original film’s release, Paramount Studios has scheduled a release date for July 12, 2019.
Top Gun:Maverick will find Cruise’s “Maverick” training young, talented pilots in a world that is becoming steadily more dependent on drones and automated pilotry. The sequel will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, who previously worked with Cruise on 2013’s Oblivion. Screenwriters include Justin Marks (The Jungle Book) and Peter Craig (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay).
