Harry Dean Stanton's Final Lead Role to Get Irish Release
Irish viewers will have a chance to see the actor one last time on the big screen
Starring Harry Dean Stanton in his last starring role, Lucky will be released in cinemas and on-demand September 14, 2018.
Stanton plays the titular character, described as a 'cantankerous, self-reliant 90-year-old athiest'. The comedy-drama sees the fiercely independent Lucky thrust into a journey of self-exploration, leading towards that which is so often unattainable: enlightenment.
The film has received rave reviews in the US earning a 98 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Throughout a career spanning over six decades, Stanton starred in classic films like Alien, Escape from New York, Paris, Texas, Repo Man and The Last Temptation of Christ. He also had a role in Irish director Martin McDonagh's comedy Seven Psychopaths.
Appearing in Lucky alongside Stanton is the actor's most frequent collaborator, writer-director David Lynch in a rare acting role.
The two worked together on Wild at Heart, Twin Peaks, The Straight Story and Inland Empire.
Lucky is the directorial debut of actor John Carroll Lynch. The first time filmmaker is recognisable for small roles in Zodiac, The Founder and Jackie,/i>, as well as for playing the murderous clown Twisty in American Horror Story.
Harry Dean Stanton passed away on September 15, 2017 at the age of 91. The release of Lucky comes almost exactly one year after his death.
