Edgar Wright hints at possible Baby Driver sequel
The director says that if it happens, "Baby has got to a new place"
While it's only been in Cinemas for a week, it's safe to say that Baby Driver is the most critically acclaimed action comedy film of 2017. Aside from the rave reviews, it also gave writer/director Edgar Wright his best opening weekend at the box office to date.
So it's no surprise that the director of the 'Cornetto trilogy' is already being probed at interviews with questions about a potential follow up to his music-driven thrill ride. What is perhaps surprising, however, is how forthcoming Wright is already being with his answers.
Wright has never made a second outing for any of his films prior but in a podcast interview with Empire, he told them that “The studio have asked me to think about writing a sequel and it is one of the ones that I might do a sequel to because I think there’s somewhere more to go with it in terms of the characters". If it were to happen, "Baby has got to a new place" he said.
Wright also hinted that Baby's role in any potential sequel might change "I think with Baby Driver there’s more that you can do in that realm, and I sort of have an idea that if you did another [film] you would subvert his involvement in the crime in a different way so he’s not the apprentice anymore.”
Baby Driver is in cinemas now. Watch the trailer below:
