David Cronenberg's wife Carolyn Cronenberg dead at 66
A successful film editor in her own right, she had worked on a number of the director's films over the years.
Carolyn Cronenberg, the wife of filmmaker David Cronenberg, has died at the age of 66. She passed away from an unspecified illness on June 19 but word of her death has only been made public today.
Outside of her marriage, Carolyn was well-known in the business as a filmmaker and film editor especially. She has editing credits on two of her husband's early films The Brood and Fast Company. The two had met when she was working as a production assistant on the director's 1977 sci-fi horror Rabid.
She also made a behind the scenes documentary about David's 2005 A History of Violence. starring Viggo Mortenson and Maria Bello. Carolyn went on to make a another documentary, Too Commercial For Cannes, about her husband's experience with bringing the film to the famous French festival.
Carolyn's obituary reads that "She was caring, kind, compassionate, loving, and by far the best person any of us has ever known" . She is survived by her Husband David, son Brandon, daughter Caitlin, and Cassandra, a daughter from David Cronenberg's previous marriage.
