Christy Moore, Damien Dempsey and more to mark Martin McGuinness' 70th birthday with online event
A host of special guests will feature in the live-streamed tribute to the late Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland.
A special live-streamed event is set to mark what would have been Martin McGuinness' 70th birthday this Saturday, May 23 – with appearances from Christy Moore, Damien Dempsey, Matt Molloy, Mary Lou McDonald, Gerry Adams, Michelle O'Neill, Cara McGuinness and more.
The tribute to the late Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland has been organised by the Martin McGuinness Peace Foundation, and will be streaming live on the Sinn Féin Facebook, Twitter and YouTube platforms at 7pm on Saturday.
McGuinness retired from politics shortly before his death on March 21st 2017, aged 66. Since his death, his family, friends and former colleagues have participated in the charity Chieftains Walk in his memory. This year's walk, scheduled for March 29, was cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.
Christy Moore previously paid tribute to McGuinness with a moving performance at his funeral in Derry.
Damien Dempsey also shared his memories of McGuinness after his death in 2017.
