An estimated 800,000 people attended this year's Fleadh in Wexford
The 2026 Fleadh Cheoil will take place in Belfast
The Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann took place between August 3 and August 10 and saw over 800,000 visitors and volunteers, including appearances from Ed Sheeran and Micheal Flatley.
The Fleadh filled the streets of Wexford with Irish music, dancing and entertainment, across 18 different venues. This included competitions, stories, food and drinks.
In the final event on Sunday, the Wexford County Council Chairman, Cllr Joe Sullivan handed over a hand-crafted harp, carved from 4000 year old bog oak, to Lord Mayor of Belfast, signifying that next year's festivities will take place in Belfast.
“Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2025 has been a memorable event for the people of Wexford," said Chairman, Cllr Joe Sullivan.
"The music, the dancing, the atmosphere – it will live on in our memories for years to come. We will look back on the Fleadhanna Cheoil na hÉireann 2024 and 2025 as iconic events in the history of our town, bringing joy to so many.”
“We are delighted to have delivered a safe and enjoyable event for so many. I would like to thank the many agencies we worked with, who all helped to make the Fleadh happen – the gardai, the health service, the voluntary services, council teams, security and event control personnel and so many more. We simply couldn’t have made the fleadh the event it was, without them,” added Chief Executive, Eddie Taffe.
The figure of 800,000 was gathered in conjunction with An Gardaí Siochana and numbers from Cars and public transport in the town.
