Documentary on cancelled show 'No Disco' to air on RTÉ2XM
A new documentary on the RTÉ music show No Disco which was cancelled 15 years ago is set to air on RTÉ 2XM this month.
This Ain’t No Party will tell the story of the of the music show No Disco which first aired in 1993 presented by Kerry broadcaster Donal Dineen which soon developed a devoted following of fans of left-of-centre music. The documentary will feature many of those involved in the production of the show over its 10 years on air.
Among the contributors are former presenters Dineen and Leagues O’Toole, founding producer Colm O’Callaghan and his successor Rory Cobbe, musicians such as David Gray, Carol Keogh and Dudley Colley, as well as a host of others.
Upon it’s cancellation there was widespread disappointment with many calling for the show to be reinstated. Through the use of archive footage and the stories of those involved This Ain’t No Party will explore the impact the unusual show, which ran for far longer than many expected, had on its niche audience.
This Ain’t No Party will be broadcast on RTÉ 2XM on Monday May 21st at 5pm and will be presented by Ciarán Ryan.
