Rory Gallagher's final recording emerges
The last recording made by Irish guitar legend Rory Gallagher is finally going to be released.
The Donegal bluesman recorded a session with his friend Eamonn McCormack in a London studio in January 1995, shortly before the illness that ended his life.
"Rory arrived with just one guitar, but then I saw Tom, his roadie, pull up with a truck full of guitars and other equipment. Everyone was amazed by the sheer power of the man when he started to play. He was a very unassuming, humble character and almost shy offstage, but the whole studio shook with his presence," recalled McCormack.
Gallagher played guitar and sang on the track 'Falsley Accused', which was scheduled to be included on McCormack's album later that year. Following Gallagher's death, McCormack kept the tape in his attic for 12 years. It will now be released on his new album Kindred Spirits, which appears later this month.
Gallagher died in June 1995 following a liver transplant operation.
