Damien Dempsey lines up Irish tour
Dublin's working class hero Damien Dempsey is set to play a series of gigs around Ireland.
Currently found in the UK supporting The Levellers, he'll follow up that tour with the following dates:
May:
21 - Derry, Sandinos
24 - Limerick, Dolans
25 - Limerick, Dolans
26 - Wateford, Ten
28 - Cork, Cyprus Avenue
29 - Cork, Cyprus Avenue
31 - Belfast, Empire
June:
2 - Galway, Roisin Dubh
4 - Dublin, Olympia Theatre
He'll then play a one-off date on June 7 at London's Bush Hall before heading over to Caton, Massachusetts, for the Irish Connections Festival on June 10 and 11.
Of course this is all in addition to his appearance at Oxegen on July 8, by which time a live recording of his December 2005 Olympia show should be on release.
Fans of the singer/songwriter will also be very pleased to hear that never one to take a rest, he's also preparing the follow-up to the acclaimed Shots album, with 320 songs written though "290 of them are muck," says he. That does leave 30 songs of superior quality, we are very excited to hear.
Expect to see it on the shelves towards the end of the year.
