Smugglers show busted
Stop press: Vicar St. cancels drug show
Vicar St. has yielded to pressure from local residents and cancelled the drug-themed Smugglers’ Tour gig scheduled for the Dublin venue on February 18th.
According to a spokesperson for Vicar St., they were “approached by residents who expressed concern about the nature of the show” and, sensitive to those concerns, decided to pull the event.
The Smugglers Tour stars self-confessed former drug traffickers Howard Marks and Allen Long in an on-stage debate chaired by author Robert Sabbag, the man who penned Snowblind, an acclaimed biography of a coke smuggler, and Smokescreen, his latest book which chronicles the adventures of dope smuggler Long.
Just before we went to press, Hotpress contacted Howard Marks who said that our phone call was the first he’d heard about the cancellation of the show.
