HBO Releases Westworld Soundtrack of Old-Timey Rock Covers
The sci-fi drama Westworld has already gained acclaim for its ability to combine the antique charms of the classic western with a futuristic dystopia. The series, based on Michael Crichton's 1973 film of the same name, focuses on a western-centered theme park where visitors interact with pre-programmed cowboy robots. Until, of course, the robots start to get out of control.
For the soundtrack, composer Ramin Djawadi of Game of Thrones fame is finding his inspiration in tracks from Radiohead, Soundgarden, The Cure, and The Rolling Stones. By taking these bands' classic tracks like "Paint it Black" and "No Surprises," and reimagining them as old-timey saloon covers, Djawadi creates an intriguing and at times unsettling fusion of the old and the new. He's released the soundtrack in a five-track EP that's available on iTunes, or you can listen to a couple tracks below.
Westworld is available to Irish viewers on Sky Atlantic.
