Martin Maguire named as new Today FM Programme Director
Martin Maguire is to replace the departing Liam Thompson as Today FM Programme Director.
Thompson is shortly to become the Content Director in London for the Bauer Media-owned Magic 105.4.
A producer with the station for almost 13 years, Maguire has worked on the award-winning Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show and The Ray D’Arcy Show, and is a popular figure among the Marconi House staff.
The mantle of Assistant Programme Director is being taken up by early evening presenter Colm O’Sullivan who was PD and Assistant CEO at his former station, Red FM in Cork.
In altogether sadder news, Dave Couse announced on-air last Sunday that the Today FM show he’s been helming for the last six years has been axed.
“It’s been pulled, it’s been got rid of,” he said. “It’s been taken from us, we can no longer be together. The week after next is our last gathering. I was hoping for a stay of execution but it hasn’t arrived. Imagine, even at my age one can be so naive. There’s nothing more I can say unless I say too much.”
A true gent, we’re sorry to see Mr. Couse go.
