The television network CBS may pick up a new program that showcases Nancy Drew as a modern thirty-something woman
The iconic fictional female icon, Nancy Drew, may possibly be getting a new television series with CBS network. The new mystery show would feature Nancy all grown up in her thirties as a detective for the NYPD, solving crimes with her observational and unconventional wit.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, former producers of Grey’s Anatomy, Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, are developing Nancy’s story for the possible new series.
Nina Tassler, President of CBS has made the theme of female empowerment a high priority, which could account for the possible inception of a Nancy Drew television series on the network.
Ever since the initial introduction of the teen sleuth in novels in the 1930s, her character has become exceedingly popular amongst the public. Just in 2007, Warner Brothers released a Nancy Drew film, with the female protagonist being played by Emma Roberts herself.
The new idea to create an older and more modern Nancy Drew is one that has not been introduced yet, and it will be interesting to see if and how the storyline plays out.
