Families can enjoy the magic of a glittering winter event as 'Glow' returns to Smithfield Square this weekend for the fourth year in a row.
An exciting lineup of family activities has been programmed by Grasshopper Events for Dublin City Council.
Lighting up the square from 2-6 pm on Saturday, 9th of December will be free family performances, comedy, music and indoor and outdoor work-shops.
Dublin City Council, Grasshopper Events and Glow have joined with local businesses Brown Bag Films, Light House Cinema and Smithfield based charity One Family to create bespoke workshops and a whole range of family activities.
2-6pm GLOW STAGE
An outdoor stage on Smithfield Plaza will host an eclectic mix of family comedy, magic, music, dance and more.
2-5pm: Maynooth Gospel Choir and Kidisco, with MC and Magician Brian Daly
5pm: Lords of Strut Family Show: Lords of Strut, heroes of hit show RIOT, stars of Brit-ain’s Got Talent and Street Performance World Champions will perform their hilarious, pop-tastic family show. Cian Kinsella and Cormac Mohally mix character comedy with acrobatics, slapstick for an experience that is part dance party, part soap-opera.
2-6pm GLOW TENT
A beautifully lit long barn tent on Smithfield Plaza will host workshops and interactive fun.

2-3.30pm: Glow Doodle with Chris Judge: The annual Glow doodle is back with chil-dren’s author and illustrator Chris Judge. Chris will show how to doodle an alien in a special alien-themed, glow-in-the-dark doodle. Chris is best known for his madcap draw-ings in the Danger is Everywhere series of books with comedian David O’Doherty and for his Lonely Beast book series.
3.30-6pm: Winter Tree Lantern Workshops with Maeve Clancy and One Family: Using The Selfish Giant story by Oscar Wilde as inspiration, artist Maeve Clancy will facilitate a storytelling and cut-paper lantern making workshop for children. The finished lanterns will decorate One Family’s beautiful white Winter Tree. In association with One Family, Ireland’s national organisation for one-parent families.
2-6pm GLOW at Brown Bag Films, Unit C, Smithfield Square
An afternoon of free workshops and interactive activities at Brown Bag Films Studio on Smithfield Square. With artists from Brown Bag Films, including Emmy Award winning storyboard artist Marten Jonmark and others.
2-5pm GLOW at Light House Cinema, Smithfield Square
Also on Dec 9th at 2.30pm Light House Cinema will be screening THE MUPPETS CHRISTMAS CAROL as part of their Naughty or Nice Christmas family season

2-2.30pm: Maynooth Gospel Choir at Light House Cinema
In a special collaboration for Glow 2017 Light House Cinema will host Maynooth Gospel Choir for a free family performance from 2pm-2.30pm.
3-5pm: Indoor Artist Workshops at Light House Cinema
Also for Glow at Light House Cinema artist Fergal McCarthy will facilitate a free Mup-pets themed Dickensian City workshop where children can create their own bespoke Dickensian buildings from cardboard, complete with Muppet characters!
2-6pm Dublin City Public Libraries’ Mobile Library at GLOW
Winter is a great time to snuggle up and enjoy a rollicking good read. Come along to Glow with your library card and stock up with books and DVDs at Dublin City Public Li-braries’ mobile library on Smithfield Square. If you don’t have a card sign up for one on the day and it won’t cost you anything!
