Anonymous declare 'total war' on US presidential candidate Donald Trump
This is the second time since 2015 that the hacktivist group has targeted Trump's campaign – on this occasion declaring that it is 'hateful' and 'appalling'
For the second time in a number of months, hacktivist group Anonymous has declared its all-out opposition to Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump's campaign, this time declaring "total war".
In the video released by the group, the hacktivist in a Guy Fawkes mask states that the group will aim not only to bring down many of Trumps sites but also to halt his presidential bid by "uncovering and exposing embarrassing information". "We need you to shut down his campaign and sabotage his brand," the group said.
In the video, the activist explains the thinking behind the attack by addressing Trump directly. "Your inconsistent and hateful campaign," the Anonymous spokesman says, "has not only shocked the United States of America, you have shocked the entire planet with your appalling actions and ideas."
The group asked that others should join Anonymous in their campaign to take down Trump, asking for everyone who has watched the video to take part in a planned cyber attack on Trump on April 1. Anonymous are using the hashtag #OpTrump for the campaign against Trump; their first target appears to be TrumpChicago.com.
