A Tribe Called Quest fight the weather and pay tribute to Phife Dawg
A Tribe Called Quest headlined the Main Stage and drew a considerable crowd despite the pouring rain.
Opening the first half of the show with a majority of tracks from their new album, We Got It from Here... Thank You 4 Your Service, the trio (ably assisted by long-time collaborator Consequence) made sure that their fallen fourth member had pride of place over the course of an hour and a half. Having Phife's voice play over a soundsystem wasn't quite as spectacular as a hologram on stage - a la Tupac at Coachella - but Phife Dawg lived on thanks to the help of his fellow New York rappers.
While 'Dis Generation' and 'Space Program' were great, the real gems were reserved for latter on in the set, with the likes of 'Butter', 'Bonita Applebum' 'Sucka Nigga' and 'Buggin' Out' getting the crowd going. Consequence's brief featurette from Kanye West's 'Gone' was also a nice touch.
'Electric Relaxation' and 'We The People', towards the end of the set, were the true highlights of the night.
