The Sins of Sainte Catherine

Stefan Murphy is an Irish based songwriter and this, his debut album, was recorded in Montreal and is a fine collection of dirty blues and country sounds with plenty of dark elements. Try to imagine some early Nick Cave recordings with some quirky traditional country and blues influences or even a slightly more rockin’ Tom Waits meets the spirit of Johnny Cash. Featuring 14 tracks on his own Firstborn is Dead record label, Hot Press awarded it 8.5/10.
