The follow-up to his acclaimed, Mercury Music Prize-nominated eponymous debut, Just Like Blood finds McRae expanding his dusky sonic palette still further, ranging from still-life guitar-and-voice musings to vast string-and-sample assisted melancholia. Produced by Ben Hillier (Elbow, Blur), once again the theme is, in McRae's words, "dislocation and the desire for escape, and the idea of chasing stuff that is always out of reach."
