A genuine success: Mundy
- Mundy was born in Birr, Co Offaly in 1976.
- At the age of five he got his first guitar.
- His initial ambitions included winning a gold medal for swimming, hurling for Offaly and becoming a show-jumping champion!
- He was signed to the record industry giants Sony Music in 1996.
- His first album Jellylegs featured his song ‘To You I Bestow’. It was borrowed for the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack that sold 11 million copies.
- He then toured the world with acts of the calibre of Neil Young, Van Morrison, Alanis Morissette and Manic Street Preachers.
- He set up his own Camcor label for his 2002 album 24 Star Hotel, produced by Tommy D. Aided by the hit singles ‘July’ and ‘Mexico’ it went double platinum.
- His third album Raining Down Arrows hit the Irish charts at number 1 and also went platinum.
- Mundy’s songs ‘Love And Confusion’ and ‘By Her Side’ were used in the UK tv series Teachers.
- The summer of 2005 saw Mundy play to 20,000 at the Ticket Stage at Oxegen, for both Mundy and his fans, a magical festival moment.
